Map Group Management

1. Create Map Group

Purpose:
Organize points of interest into reusable collections.

Steps:

  1. Click the Groups button on the map controls (top-left map marker with a +).
  2. In the modal, click Create New.
  3. Enter a descriptive title for your group.
  4. Click Submit. Your new group shows up in the list.

2. Add Map Item to Group

Purpose:
Add a marker, bridge, camera, or telephone into a named group.

Steps:

  1. Click on any map item to open its details popup.
  2. Click Add to Group.
  3. In the dialog, select your target group from the dropdown.
  4. (Optional) Enter a personal note for this item.
  5. Click Save. The item will appear under that group’s tab.

3. Share Map Group

Purpose:
Generate a public link to share your map group with anyone.

Steps:

  1. Open My Map Groups from the map.
  2. Click the Share button (green icon) on the desired group row.
  3. In the popup, click Copy Link to copy the public URL.
  4. Paste or send this URL to colleagues—no login required to view.

4. Delete Map Group

Purpose:
Permanently remove an existing group of assets.

Steps:

  1. Click the Bin button in the chat header.
  2. Choose My Map Groups to open the groups modal.
  3. Locate the row for the group you want to delete.
  4. Click the red Delete icon next to it.
  5. Confirm in the popup. The group and its contents will be removed.


Marker Post Utilities

5. Marker Post: Copy Coordinates

Purpose: Quickly copy the exact latitude and longitude of any marker post.

  1. Click on a marker post icon on the map.
  2. In the details popup, click Copy Coords.
  3. The lat/lng pair is copied to your clipboard for pasting elsewhere.

6. Marker Post: Get Directions

Purpose: Jump to Google or Apple Maps directions directly from a marker.

  1. Open a marker post’s details popup.
  2. Click Directions.
  3. Choose Google or Apple in the follow-up dialog.
  4. A new tab/app opens with driving directions to the marker.

7. Update Marker Location

Purpose: Drag a marker to correct its position (visible only to you).

  1. Click and hold a marker until it becomes draggable.
  2. Drag to the new location and release.
  3. Confirm in the popup—you’ll see old vs new coords and a distance.
  4. Click Update Coords to save your personal edit.

8. Scan Marker Post

Purpose: Run a focused scan around a single marker’s location.

  1. Click a marker to open its popup.
  2. Click Scan to trigger a 6.5 km search around that point.
  3. Nearby bridges, cameras, telephones, and gazetteer entries appear.
